Expose system-impacted Black and Brown communities to new experiences, resources and opportunities.
Help us disrupt the cycle of negative factors and environmental influences that lay the foundation for the lives of our underexposed youth and families to be more susceptible to being impacted by the Criminal Justice System.
Our mission is to support and empower system-impacted Black and Brown youth and families through exposure to diverse opportunities and global travel promoting hope, healing, and transformation.
"Communities like mine are low income, under-resourced, and under-exposed. So it's a lot missing in our communities, and a lot of that is due to a lot of our systemic structures, namely the Criminal Justice System." - Keelan Wilson; CEO of Aknew Approach Inc.
A study found that low-income Black and Brown youth who were exposed to new experiences outside of their community were associated with a 35% reduction in the likelihood of engaging in delinquent behaviors.
A study found that Black and Brown youth from low-income families who had a mentor were associated with a 70% reduction in ever being arrested, compared to their non-mentored peers.
By targeting the lack of exposure as the root of community challenges, we're intentionally developing programming that exposes our community to experiences, resources and opportunities they typically would not have access to. Help us disrupt the cycle of negative factors and environmental influences that lay the foundation for the lives of our underexposed youth and families to be more susceptible to being impacted by the Criminal Justice System.
